How our usage counters work

We measure use of the public MABNI website to understand which activities are useful and how often the Windows classroom package is downloaded.

What is counted

Page visits, the activity or guide opened, Explorer or Navigator mode, a small set of button actions, visible active time, general device type, source category such as LinkedIn, and script-error counts. Download starts, retry requests and handoffs to the native file server are counted separately. A handoff does not prove that a download finished or that the package was installed. Error messages and stack traces are not collected.

What stays on your device

Learner names, typed text, class codes, saved progress, camera or microphone content, projects and files are not sent to the usage counters. This monitoring does not record screens or keystrokes.

A random tab session is stored in sessionStorage. It is reused for 30 minutes and carries no account identity. A protected, daily-changing hash estimates daily browsers; raw IP addresses and full browser descriptions are not stored in the monitoring database. These estimates do not identify individual people.

Where the counts are kept

The counters are hosted with MABNI, with the history in private storage and the report behind the existing administrator login. The monitoring history is retained across website releases. No analytics data is sent to an external analytics provider. The hosting provider also maintains its own ordinary server logs.

Offline classrooms

The downloaded Windows package and local school-network use do not contact this monitoring service. Classroom progress and reports stay on the classroom server.

Your browser choice

The page tracker respects Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control signals. You can also exclude this browser from page tracking or re-enable it. This browser choice uses a localStorage preference. It affects page tracking; direct file requests may still appear in the hosting provider’s server logs.
